Eyewitness Underwater Studio Information
	General Information The tank is purpose built to enable wet or underwater shooting of most production inserts or sequences with minimal fuss or bother. the North end of the tank has an "endless horizon" - the water flows over a lip and with the addition of a backdrop or props, a variety of "locations" can be cheated. A further extension area can be flooded to extend the surface area. The South end is sloped and can be dressed as a beach etc. The building over the tank is fully blacked out and has de-humidifiers/surface heating. Water is heated and filtered through a special system to obtain maximum "Gin clear" clarity - the water can also be discoloured to match any previous locations. Made to measure drapes and wall fittings provide quick and easy background colour changes, stock colours are Blue, White and Black. Various water pumps and pipe work are available for the manipulation and movement of any special effects involving water. Throughout the tank there are anchor points to locate scaffolding or structures. A large, fully equipped workshop is adjacent to the tank for any prop or set building. 240v 100 amps AC power is available from outlets around the edge of the tank working area, cables can also be fed through underwater cable ducts into the tank. All power outlets in the tank vicinity are on GFI/RCD trips for safety so that any electrical contact with water will immediately cut the circuits. All formats of underwater film and TV camera equipment is on site along with HMI & Quartz lighting, underwater talkback/playback etc. Small and high budget dramas, commercials, pop promos and documentaries have been shot in the tank. | Back to top | Back to underwater index |
